Oral Surgery and Periodontology

Oral surgery and periodontology encompass minimally invasive procedures performed under local anesthesia. Most commonly, these include impacted wisdom teeth, apicectomies, and gingivectomy.

Impacted wisdom teeth are teeth that often lack space in the dental arch, remaining fully or partially trapped in the bone. They frequently affect neighboring teeth and cause discomfort to patients, such as pain, swelling, and unpleasant odor.

Apicectomy is the process of removing the tip of the tooth root to eliminate infection while preserving the remaining part of the tooth.

Gingivectomy is the removal of excess soft tissue around the tooth, which can become enlarged for various reasons. It is performed as part of periodontal or orthodontic therapy.
